Celebrity Endorsements: Do you dare?

So unless you've been living under a rock lately, you've probably caught wind of the Tiger Woods scandal. It seems as if everyone is talking about this "perfect man gone wrong." However, news stories are being released questioning not only his character, but asking readers if they think this golf icon will lose his endorsement deals. Well, I'm not taking a stance either way, but for those of you who are loyal Tiger fans, there's hope.

Earlier this year a different professional athlete faced some bad PR of her own. Serena Williams, a high profile tennis player, was disqualified from the U.S. Open after laying into a line coach with a string of profanities. However, according to Brandweek, this feisty female landed an endorsement deal with Tampax less than a week later.

The ads, which can be previewed by clicking the link below, feature a pesky Mother Nature delivering a "gift" to Williams. Not one to be submissive by nature, Williams fights back, showing her tough side. According to Courtney Schuster, the associate brand manager for Tampax, Williams is an accurate representation of a Tampax girl: unstoppable and prepared.

So what are your thoughts? Does this endorsement deal fit? If you were the brand manager for Tampax would you follow through with the endorsement? I, personally, feel the deal is spot-on. If Tampax was truly looking for a fierce female spokesperson, I think they found the perfect fit. However, I think I'd settle for someone a little less feisty who could also stay cool under pressure.
