Career Fair Event Program

  • Branding Yourself with Ross Snodgrass
    Wednesday, February 3;
7 p.m. LOCATION CHANGE: Fisher Auditorium

    You are a brand too! Spend an hour with Mizzou alum, Ross Snodgrass, a former Disney creative force, now a Creative Director at the Integer Group in Denver. Come hear Ross’s honest and impassioned presentation on how to crack the creative job-hunting code. Discover tips and tricks to market yourself in a “branded” way that separates your portfolio and resume from all those boring, lackluster, unfocused PDFs that flood the mailboxes of recruiters everywhere. This will be one of the most entertaining and valuable hours you’ll spend all semester. Created by a creative director for creatives, but great information for all.
  • Resume Panel and Review
    Tuesday, February 9; 7 p.m. RJI 100A

    Excited about looking for an internship or job but unsure about the quality of your resume? Then you won’t want to miss out on the Resume Panel! Come hear resume tips and tricks from industry professionals, then stick around afterwards for a one-on-one review. After this evening, you’ll be sure to stick out from the crowd.
  • Building Your Marketing and Advertising Career: It Starts Now!
    Wednesday, February 10; Pizza at 6:30 p.m. and session starts at 7 p.m. RJI 100A

    Registration required
    Careers can be exciting journeys, but establishing the right foundation is critical, particularly in this economy and with all that is changing in the marketing communications industry.

    Come enjoy Shakespeare’s pizza and some perspective on building your career in marketing and advertising with ad agency president David Selby and executive recruiter Melanie Steinbach.  David and Melanie will share their deep experience and diverse perspectives, all delivered with a touch of humor, on what it takes to make it in today’s marketplace, from crafting the right search strategy for your first opportunity out of school to making the right decisions on graduate school and what follows.

    David is the president of Schafer Condon Carter, an independent agency in Chicago, and has over 30 years of marketing and advertising experience on both the agency and client side with companies such as Leo Burnett, Sears and Potbelly Sandwich Works. Melanie is an executive director with the global executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates, where she specializes in the firm’s Retail Practice working with such clients as Walmart and Ulta.

    This promises to be an informative and provocative session that you won’t want to miss as you seek to put your Strat Comm degree to work.  This is a special session as part of the Strategic Communication Career Fair and you will need to register in advance (so we know how much pizza to order!)
