Brandon Walker

Moving an astounding one mile away from his parents’ house to attend Mizzou for school, Brandon Walker has not had the typical “going away to college” experience. Though he may have missed the on-ramp to the highway out of town, Brandon has no regrets staying in his hometown for college.

Brandon achieved his Speedo-ready physique by swimming competitively in high school, and his hard work paid off when he won a state championship his senior year. An outdoor junkie, Brandon enjoys hiking, white-water rafting and camping in the Smoky Mountains, which he considers his second home. He’s never had any dangerous encounters with wild elk or bears, but he may have stubbed his toe once or twice on a rock.

A Summer Welcome Leader in 2010 and Student Coordinator for the program in 2011, Brandon hopes his hard work will eventually take him out of Columbia. During his freshman and sophomore years, he volunteered through Greek Life and helped facilitate formal recruitment. Currently, he works in the Office of New Student Programs on campus and serves as a Teaching Assistant for the freshman Learning Strategies class.

If you have something funny to say around Brandon, he’s sure to write it down. This guy has a great sense of humor and really appreciates a good joke. When you meet him, be prepared for a good laugh.
